Collection: Annual Schomburg Center Literary Festival

The Schomburg Center Literary Festival: Reading the African Diaspora, has been configured as a virtual festival taking place over 6 days: June 14-19, 2021.

Throughout the week we explore concepts of freedom, culminating on June 19, also known as Juneteenth, a day in 1865 commemorating when news of the Emancipation Proclamation and the official end of slavery reached Black people still enslaved in Galveston, Texas.

Go to schomburgcenterlitfest.org to follow upcoming festival information, including featured authors, books, and events.

To view 2020 Literary Festival events again, go to our past events section on Livestream.com/schomburgcenter.
