RIVERS is a site-specific public art installation and peace memorial in honor of poet Langston Hughes. This work is inspired by Hughes’ poem “The Negro Speaks of Rivers” and takes the form of an African-themed brass cosmogram. Langston Hughes’ cremated remains are interred beneath the body of the fish shape and is located in the Schomburg Center’s Langston Hughes lobby.
